Protesters descended on the streets after the Election Commission found that Limjaroenrat, the winner of Thailand's elections in May, violated election law, allegedly by undeclaring ownership of media company shares.

Thailand's Parliament voted 13th July to decide if the leader of MFP, Pita Limjaroenrat, can become the new Prime Minister, ending 9 years of rule by former army chief Prayuth Chan-ocha. Pita Limjaroenrat lost the vote, being 51 votes short. The media report there will be another vote next week. The vote in Parliament saw abstentions by some members of the Senate, filled with conservative members by the military government after the army took power in a coup in 2014.
