This is the heartwarming moment a stray ginger cat stuck inside a massive clay jar was rescued.

The feline climbed up the water storage container to drink but unfortunately slipped inside at a farm in Lopburi province, Thailand, on June 15.

It clung to tree branches inside the 100-litre earthenware until, fortunately, a local Montree Kongsomnuek passed by and heard it crying.

Footage shows the scared cat reaching for the stick that Montree and his companion was using to scoop up the animal.

Montree said: ‘There was no one living nearby. We just happened to pass by. I think the cat is a stray.'

But the creature was too tired and had to try multiple times before finally climbing up the stick.

It jumped out and ran away after successfully being freed. The cat looked unharmed.

Montree added: ‘The cat walked in the direction of the village. It was so scared.'
