The Indian city of Delhi has been hit by devastating floods following the overflow of the Yamuna river amid record rainfall. Thousands of people have been evacuated after water flooded dozens of homes and roads.

In this video, India's National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rescues a group of stranded people and carries them to safety on lifeboats.

Officials of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rescued several people stranded due to floods caused by heavy rainfall in northern India's Delhi.

This happened at the Monastery, which is located near the signature bridge in Shahdara central Delhi on July 13.

Visuals showed the officials standing on a flooded road with people inside lifeboats. This was after they were rescued and soon, the people were instructed to move out of the boat. The officials helped the people slowly make a way along with their belongings. The whole area was completely flooded with rainwater. It has to be noted that the whole of northern India has witnessed the fury of rainfall this season with several areas affected by the floods and landslides. In the capital of Delhi, many people were earlier evacuated after the Yamuna river overflowed and the water gushed into people's homes, disturbing normal life.
