Flash floods ravaged a famous night market as heavy rainfall hit northern China.

Video filmed in Xi'an City in Shaanxi Province on July 12 shows water surged through the popular West Street Night Market, forcing some vendors and customers to take refuge inside their shops, waiting for the water to recede.

According to the night market's shopkeepers, the downpour started around 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm and continued until the early hours of the following day. Aware of the potential risks, each vendor had prepared sandbags to prevent flooding.

On July 13, Li Shan Street Office, the administrative authority responsible for the night market, responded by stating that no injuries were reported and that the roadways affected by the flooding had been cleared. The timely response reassured concerned individuals about the safety of those involved.

The Xi'an Municipal Public Meteorological Service Centre reported that the heavy rainfall on the evening of June 12 affected multiple areas of Xi'an, including Lintong District.
