A child was rescued by locals after a leopard had strayed into a house in central India's Madhya Pradesh.

This incident happened in Ratlam district on July 5.

Visuals showed the leopard at one corner of the house. It looked straight into the lights as they were being flashed on his face. The wild cat was then reportedly tranquilised and captured. It was then seen inside of a cage after the forest department officials caught it.

According to a report, the leopard was spotted earlier and two women, Yashoda and her daughter Kumkum escaped after seeing the animal from a distance. Yashoda later realised that her son Amit was still inside the house where the leopard went. Dinesh and Samarth Patidar, two men, then found a way to bring the child out of the house. With a lot of courage, they removed the sheet of roof and entered the house before taking away the child slowly from in front of the leopard. It was Samarth who had climbed the roof and Dinesh handed the child to him before they escaped.

The forest department was informed and teams from Ujjain and Indore arrived at the spot. A cage was set up and the rescue operation began at 4:00 am. The leopard was caught and tranquilised safely within an hour and a half.
