A heroic neighbour risked his life to save a child trapped in a devastating house fire in eastern China.

The video was filmed in Jinan City in Shandong Province on July 13.

The courageous rescuer has been identified as Xu Liang, a former serviceman who served five years in the Gannan Detachment of the People's Armed Police Force in Gansu Province.

When approached for comment, Xu Liang humbly remarked, "It was nothing, really. I just helped a little kid. It was indeed dangerous climbing up there, but I only had one thought in my mind: to save the child."

Recalling the incident, Xu mentioned that he saw smoke and noticed a child sitting on the window ledge, crying for help. Without a second thought, he climbed up from the window below.

According to reports, the residential building where the fire occurred has two commercial floors at the bottom, making the height from the trapped girl's position to the ground more than ten meters.

Xu positioned himself on the east side of the window while the frightened child clung to him. He searched for a safe spot, saying, "I didn't feel at ease until I climbed onto the platform where the air conditioner outdoor unit was hanging. There were walls on all sides, providing a sense of security. I instructed the child to tuck their legs and protect themselves."

Soon after, the fire department arrived and deployed a ladder truck to rescue the child. With the ladder extended, the child was safely brought down. Xu then climbed out of the window and left the scene.

Further investigations reveal that a family of three was trapped in the building during the fire. As Xu performed his rescue, two other rescue operations were simultaneously underway from different positions. The child's father was able to descend using a ladder provided by another neighbor through the bathroom window, while the child's mother, clinging to the air conditioning unit outside the living room window, was pulled to safety by yet another neighbor. In the end, the entire family was successfully rescued, unharmed.

According to local fire officials, the fire was caused by a charging electric scooter, but fortunately, there were no casualties in this incident.

据了解，救人男子叫许亮，曾在武警甘肃总队甘南支队服役五年。“其实也没啥，就帮助了一下小朋友。当时往上爬的时候确实是比较危险，但只想着去救人。”据许亮回忆，当时看到有烟，有一名小孩在窗户跨坐着哭喊，就从楼下窗户爬了上去。
据了解，事发居民楼楼下两层为商铺，被困女孩的位置距离地面实际有十多米高。许亮称，当时他在窗户东侧站立着，孩子很惊慌，他搂着孩子想找个安全的地方。“直到爬到了挂空调外机的台子上，“上下后面都有墙，心里才踏实了。我就让孩子把腿缩起来，保护好自己。”
随后消防架起了云梯，把孩子救了下去。随后徐亮又从楼下的窗户爬了出去，离开了现场。
经过了解，火灾现场共有一家三口被困，许亮救人时，另外两场救援也在不同方位同时进行着。孩子的父亲顺着邻居搭救的梯子从卫生间的窗户被救下来，孩子的妈妈爬到了客厅的空调外机，也被邻居拽了上来。”最终一家三口安全获救。
据当地消防部门透露，起火原因为室内电瓶车充电起火，此次火灾无人员伤亡。
