The U.S. Coast Guard seized 660 lbs of illegal fish on a boat off the coast of Texas on Wednesday.

Coast Guard Station South Padre Island boat crew intercepted the four Mexican fishermen found illegally fishing on a 'lancha' or fishing boat off southern Texas on July 12.

The vessel was found eight miles north of the Maritime Boundary Line, authorities said. It was carrying one shark, 660 lbs of red snapper, as well as long lines, high flyers, a GPS, and a radio.

The Coast Guard has detained the anglers and turned them over to border enforcement agents.

In a statement, Lieutenant Shane Gunderson, commanding officer, Station South Padre Island, said: 'This case highlights the value of effectiveness of joint operations on the maritime border.

'We remain dedicated to working alongside our partners at U.S. Customs and Border Protection to detect and suppress these incursions into our nation's sovereign waters.'
