A shopping mall ceiling collapsed as tropical storm Talim battered the Philippines.

Footage shows the deluge spraying from an air vent with debris scattered on the wet floor of a shopping centre in the Makati district of the capital Manila on July 12.

Part of the structure subsided, triggered by the leak caused by recent bad weather. Shops were also swamped with rainwater causing damage to goods inside stores.

A worker immediately cleaned off the water that cascaded down the spot as well as other areas of the mall.

Tropical storm Talim locally named Dodong is the Philippines' fourth tropical cyclone this year and the first for July. It is expected to be out of the country by Sunday, heading towards Southern China.
