STORYLINE:

Hefei's first new energy vehicle charging complex building has recently begun its trial operation in east China's Anhui Province.

Charging piles have been installed in all parking spaces in the six-story complex. The complex has a total of 197 parking lots, including 185 for  small and medium-size vehicles and 12 for large vehicles such as electric trucks.

"Covering an area of 15,000 square meters, the project has equipped all 197 parking lots with fast direct current (DC) charging facilities. This is a demonstration project which offers a series of services such as parking, charging and supporting services. At present, the project is able to meet the charging demands of at least 1,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) every day, providing a total of 30,000 kilowatt-hours on average per day. The main customers include taxis, online ride-hailing cars and logistics vehicles. The project also meets the charging needs of private vehicles nearby. Next, we plan to offer more services, including car wash, maintenance, insurance claim, to better serve owners of NEVs."

"It used to be very inconvenient to recharge my car in Hefei City. Charging piles are usually located outdoors. There are no bathrooms or places for dining, which is not convenient. Since the operation of this project, I have always come here for charging when I'm within 20 kilometers from here, because there is a bathroom and places for dining here. It's quite convenient. The most important thing is that the indoor environment is good for electric cars during charging, particularly on hot summer days. It protects cars from strong sunshine or heavy rains. It would be better if there are more charging complexes like this in our city."
