Participants of the annual Waiters' Race in London's Soho go wild, spraying crowd - and themselves - with fizz

The annual Waiters' Race in London's Soho began in dramatic fashion when a basement fire broke out in a building at the starting line, delaying the event (July 16).

The waiting staff, all working in local establishments, ran round the block carrying a napkin, also an ashtray, bottle of prosecco and a glass balanced on a tray: the winner being the first to cross the finished line with items intact.

In celebration, after crossing the finishing line, waiters sprayed each other - and the crowd with fizz, poured booze over themselves and into each other's mouths.
