Influenced by the outer circulation of typhoon Talim, several areas in Guangdong province experienced intense convective weather on July 16.

Dongguan City, in particular, issued a thunderstorm and strong wind warning, causing inconvenience for residents in their daily activities and routines.

At precisely 8:22 a.m. on July 16, the Dongguan Municipal Defense Command initiated a Level IV emergency response to combat the strong winds.

According to the weather forecast, the city is expected to experience gusts gradually intensifying to Force 7 to 8 in the afternoon of the 16th, reaching Force 9 to 10 in coastal and highland regions.

Moreover, from the 16th to the 18th, Dongguan is anticipating heavy rain, with the possibility of torrential downpours and isolated severe rainfall events.

According to the meteorological department of Guangdong Province, the centre of typhoon Talim is located at approximately 20.1 degrees north latitude and 113.2 degrees east longitude, with maximum sustained winds reaching Force 12 (73.8m/h). It is currently positioned about 325 kilometres southeast of Zhanjiang in Guangdong province.

The forecast indicates that typhoon Talim will move at a speed of around 20 kilometres per hour in a west-northwest direction, gradually increasing in intensity.

There is a possibility that it may strengthen into a strong typhoon before making landfall. Typhoon Talim is set to significantly impact Guangdong, marking the fourth typhoon of the year to do so.

据广东省气象部门消息，台风“泰利”于7月17日7时加强为“台风”级。8时其中心位置处于北纬20.1度、东经113.2度，中心最大风力12级（33米/秒），距离广东湛江东偏南方向约325公里。预计“泰利”将以每小时20公里左右的速度向西偏北方向移动，强度缓慢增强，不排除登陆时加强为强台风级。今年第4号台风泰利将严重影响广东。
