This is the shocking moment a hot-headed taxi driver threatened a tourist over a fare disagreement in Thailand.

The motorcycle taxi driver had been booked by the holidaymaker using a smartphone ride-hailing app to take him to a house in Phuket on July 16.

The driver dropped off the tourist, but bizarrely, blew up at him when he was paid the agreed-upon 56 Baht (1.62 USD).

Footage shows how the furious man wearing a helmet and blue vest insulted his passenger, who pushed him out of the property and slammed the gate in his face.

The taxi driver then kicked at the gate in his anger but drove away without further incident.

Speaking to local media, the unnamed foreigner said he had used the Grab application to hire the driver to take him to his accommodation in Patong, Phuket.

The fee displayed was 56 Baht, but upon reaching the destination, the driver reportedly charged him 100 Baht (2.9 USD) instead. The foreigner refused to pay the inflated fare and quickly escaped inside the house.

When footage spread of the incident, the taxi driver surrendered himself at the Patong Police Station, where he reportedly admitted his mistake and apologised to the tourist.
