A stray dog with its head stuck inside a plastic jar was rescued.

The pooch was scavenging for food and poked its nosed inside the piece of trash in a neighbourhood in Ayutthaya province, Thailand on June 14.

However, the creature could not pull its head out until a good Samaritan found and helped it.

Footage shows the scared dog running around a local's backyard. It was exhausted and barely moved when Panawat Tarawut lifted the jar off.

Panawat said: 'I am an animal lover. I rescue dogs and cats in my free time. When residents told me about this poor dog, I went there right away.'

The pooch was weak so he took it home with him on a motorcycle to be taken care of until it regains strength.

He said: ‘The dog is fine now. I was relieved we got there on time. It was so weak when we removed the jar.'
