Ten passengers were rescued when an out-of-control minibus plunged into a lake in the Philippines.

The vehicle was coasting along a road in Noveleta town, Cavite province on July 17 afternoon when the driver 'lost control of the steering wheel'.

The minibus veered towards the sidewalk, crashing into a steel fence and hurtling into the water.

Local authorities said 10 people, including a child, were injured and taken to St Martin Hospital to be treated. There were no casualties reported.

The Municipality of Noveleta local government said in a statement on Monday: 'The town government of Noveleta is urging everyone to be careful especially when driving. This afternoon an accident occurred along San Rafael 4 near the Calero Bridge. A bus fell into the fishing pond. Ten (10) were injured including the driver. The cause of the accident is still being investigated.

'The Noveleta Rescue Group and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) responded immediately. The victims were taken to St. Martin Hospital. The Noveleta Rescue Group will take them to their respective homes to ensure their safety.'

Noveleta police said they were still probing the exact cause of the crash.
