An all-female rowing team rowing around Britain unaided have returned to the River Thames this afternoon (July 18), and are less than 50-miles from finishing.

Team Ithaca were spotted returning to the Thames at midday - having set off on June 4 - and are expected to finish their impressive feat at the finishing line Tower Bridge, London tomorrow afternoon (July 19).

The rowers are taking part in the GB Row Challenge, which bills itself as the world's toughest rowing race at over 2,000 miles unassisted.

Footage filmed from Sheerness, Kent shows them passing Thames shipwreck SS Richard Montgomery, the Southend-on-sea, Essex coastline, Southend's sunken Mulberry Harbour and the end of the iconic Southend-on-sea pier.
