The controversial Bibby Stockholm barge that will be used to home asylum seekers docked in Portland Port on July 18.

The barge is set to accommodate 500 asylum seekers and the first are expected to board later in July.

A couple of protest groups gathered in Portland to voice their anger at the barge's arrival claiming it is inhumane for the government to cram on to the vessel.

The UK's first immigration barge, to house over 500 asylum seekers arrives at Portland Port, Dorset. The barge is expected to start accepting some of the young men from next week, in a bid to save the government by not using hotels which is thought to be costing £6m per day.
The arrival of the Bibby Stockholm comes as the Government's migration plans were poised to become law after ministers saw off fresh challenges by peers.
South Dorset MP Richard Drax, members from Dorset Council and NHS Dorset have also objected to the decision, but Downing Street insists using barges is cheaper than using hotels.
