A policeman saved a pet dog from a burning home in California.

Adam Calderon from the Arvin Police Department rescued the local family's beloved pet from the devastating fire on July 10.

Responding to a fully engulfed mobile home, Officer Calderon learned that the family's dog was trapped in the backyard. Ignoring his own safety, he navigated through thick smoke, scaling a six-foot fence to reach the distressed canine.

Despite the encroaching flames and stifling heat, Officer Calderon used a large cement block as a shield as he sought out a tool to release the dog from its chain.

Armed with hedge trimmers and unwavering strength, he finally succeeded in freeing the frightened animal and carried it to safety.

Bodycam footage reveals the perilous conditions Officer Calderon faced during the rescue.

With flames close behind and thick smoke surrounding him, he pressed on and freed the mutt. After securing the dog's safety, he reassured the hound, saying, 'I told you that you could trust me'.
