A pet Aldabra giant tortoise enjoyed neck scratches from his owner.

Footage shows the shelled creature Mumu perched on the edge of his enclosure to meet his caretaker in Pathum Thani, Thailand on June 28.

Mumu's caretaker said she went on a trip for a few days and the clever animal quickly recognised her when she came back.

She said: ‘My Mumu is so smart. She knew that I had been away and went to greet me eagerly when we met again.'

Aldabra giant tortoises are the largest tortoises in the world, with some individuals reaching lengths of up to 4ft and weighing more than 500 pounds.
