Floods caused by a monsoon storm surged through homes and roads in southern Thailand.

Continuous heavy rain triggered three-foot floods as runoff flowed from mountains in Ranong province on July 18 evening.

Footage shows muddy torrents rushing through the streets in the province, rendering roads impassable to vehicles.

Officers from the Forest Protection and Preservation Unit were dispatched to aid distressed residents and remove debris clogging canals and drains.

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are approaching their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
