Raft workers detained after having confrontation with visitors in China
Three raft workers were detained after confronting visitors at a tourist spot in southern China.
The video was filmed in Yangshuo County in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on July 18.
According to the task force's investigation, the root of the dispute appeared to be a disagreement caused when tourists playing in the water interfered with the docking of bamboo rafts, leading to a verbal altercation that quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.
Following the incident, one of the tourists involved was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical examination. Thankfully, the preliminary diagnosis showed no major injuries.
In the aftermath, three of the involved raft workers were taken into custody by the local police and served with a 15-day administrative detention. They were also subjected to a fine due to their involvement in the assault.
Consequences also reached the senior management of the Yulong River Company. Both the principal leader and the person in charge of the company were suspended from their posts as part of the fallout from the incident.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
