On July 15, an inspiring rescue took place in the Champua Range of Keonjhar district in Odisha, eastern India. A young adult elephant had an unfortunate accident, falling into an abandoned well with a depth of 15 feet. However, thanks to the prompt action and efforts of the rescue team, the animal was successfully saved.

Rescuers used an excavator to free the elephant and allow it to climb out. The operation began at 11.00 am local time and ended at 3.30 pm.

The gentle giant sustained a minor injury on its right hind leg, however, the attending veterinarian reassured locals that it would heal over time.

The young elephant was reunited with its herd 30 minutes after the rescue.
