Su-25 training flight ends in disaster: engine failure causes crash over sea of Azov, pilot survives ejection
On July 17th, 2023, a Su-25 attack aircraft crashed near the coast of Yeysk, Krasnodar Territory, Russia, while conducting a training flight over the Sea of Azov. The preliminary investigation points to an engine failure as the cause of the incident. Disturbingly, the crash occurred in close proximity to people who were resting on the coast at the time. Fortunately, the pilot successfully ejected from the aircraft before the impact and was rescued by emergency services. Currently, specialists from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and other relevant agencies are on-site, investigating the accident.
