A missile strike that hit a three-storey residential building in Mykolaiv southern Ukraine has left two dead.

Footage shared by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine shows firefighters battling to extinguish flames engulfing the damaged building.

Head of the National Police in Mykolaiv Oblast, Serhiy Shaikhet, confirmed that two people had died in the attack and they were a married couple.

The city is one of Ukraine's main shipbuilding ports and a major commercial river and seaport.

In Nikolaev, the death toll has increased as a result of the night shelling of the city by the Russian military.

From under the rubble, the body of the second victim of the rocket attack of the invaders was taken out, as reported by the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in the Nikolaev region Serhiy Shaikhet in his Telegram channel.

"As of 16:35, unfortunately, there are already two dead from the nighttime enemy terrorist attack in Nikolaev. From under the rubble of the damaged house, they got the body of an elderly woman - the wife of the deceased man, who was taken out of the ruins earlier," he noted.

According to Shaikhet, search operations are still ongoing, people may remain under the rubble.

"Dear citizens, if your relatives or friends could be in damaged houses and still have not got in touch, contact the special line 102 with a corresponding statement," the head of the regional police added.
On the night of July 20, the Russian invaders again fired on the south of Ukraine after the suspension of the "grain agreement". This time they hit Odessa and Nikolaev with 19 cruise missiles and 19 kamikaze drones.

In Nikolaev, two rockets hit a residential high-rise building and garages. As a result of the attack, 18 people were injured, including 5 children. A few hours after the impact, rescuers pulled out the body of a dead man from under the rubble.
