Close-up footage has emerged of the moment a passenger train ploughed into a truck in Semarang, Central Java, on July 18.

Muhammad Fauzi, 21, was just a few metres away from the track when he captured the moment the vehicle was engulfed by flames as a train slammed into it.

The filmer said: "At about half past eight in the evening I saw the truck stuck on the tracks. We approached the truck and saw that the engine was still running. The tyre got stuck on the tracks.

"The truck driver was seen stepping on the gas to move his vehicle, but the rear wheels were just spinning, while the truck was not moving forward."

The clip shows the driver and passenger near the vehicle waving at the oncoming train to slow down but their attempts were unsuccessful.

"When the fire broke out on the truck and the train, the driver was seen getting out of the train followed by the passengers," Fauzi said.

Local authorities confirmed there weren't any casualties and one person was injured.

Muhammad Fauzi, 21, an eyewitness, said the accident was triggered by an unloaded truck that stopped because its tires got stuck at a railway crossing.

"At about half past eight in the evening of 1 Suro I saw the truck stuck on the tracks. We approached the truck and saw that the engine was still running. The tyre got stuck on the tracks," said Fauzi who filmed the moment of the accident.

"The truck driver was seen stepping on the gas to move his vehicle, but the rear wheels were just spinning, while the truck was not moving forward," Fauzi added.

In the clip, the driver and co-driver of the truck jump out, then wave their hands at the oncoming train, but that doesn't work as the train keeps moving, ramming into the truck, triggering a constant huge fire once the two get into the bridge.

"When the fire broke out on the truck and the train, the driver was seen getting out of the train followed by the passengers," Fauzi told Newsflare on a chat app.
