This is the moment firemen battled to rescue a woman who fell from a bridge while taking a selfie in Thailand.

The unnamed tourist and her boyfriend were sightseeing along the bridge in Chonburi province when they decided to snap photos of their romantic trip on July 13 evening.

However, as she sat and posed on the metal railings, she lost her balance and plunged into the cold water, with her boyfriend leaping after her.

Passers-by notified authorities when they heard the couple, who had climbed onto a bridge pier, screaming for help.

Firefighters arrived at the scene at around 9:30 pm, flying drones to assist in the nighttime rescue operation. They threw a rope to hoist the pair back up, but bizarrely, the woman refused to climb up saying she felt embarrassed by the large crowd of onlookers watching and recording them.

Officers negotiated with her, but the stubborn lady held her ground until a passing fishing boat offered to take them to safety. The couple were seen on the boat pulling away from the bridge, the boyfriend comforting his mortified partner.

The woman declined to be interviewed but said she wanted to reassure everyone that they were both safe.

Her boyfriend said they had driven a pick-up truck to the area to go sightseeing when the incident occurred.
