Carmela, 9, from Wiltshire, South West England, was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy, a condition marked by progressive weakening and wasting of the muscles. Her rescued poodle Tinker has been trained to support her in the challenges she will encounter over time and to help her be more independent.

"Simple tasks will be too difficult for her", her mum Lucy told Newsflare. "This includes bending down to pick items up and to take off clothes. She will gradually lose the ability to walk and move out of her wheelchair herself as the years go on".

The heartwarming footage, which was filmed by Carmela's mother, shows the dog retrieving and passing different items dropped indoors, and running by her side whilst she cycles.

Four-year-old Tinker, a rescue dog adopted at just 10 weeks old from a Welsh farm, was trained by Helpful Hounds Assistance Dogs. This charity helps to change the lives of young people and their families, living within Southern England.
