STORYLINE:
More than 40 athletes from the United States, Brazil, Argentina, France and other countries arrived at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport on Friday for the 31st FISU World University Games.
Accompanied by more than 20 delegation officials, they are the first batch of athletes to pass through the official entry and exit ports for the Chengdu Universiade. They will compete in basketball, table tennis, taekwondo and other events.

In addition to the official Chengdu Universiade entry and exit ports, seven airports in five cities, namely Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Urumqi have also been designated as the general entry and exit ports for the Games.

"In order to address the massive arrivals at the customs, we have designated six customs channels specifically for Chengdu Universiade. As to the smart channels with eight functions including carry-on luggage machine inspection, they have been upgraded from single channel to dual channel, which increases the passing speed by more than 40 percent."
