Rescue operations have been called off in the village of Irshalwadi, India's Maharashtra, after a massive landslide killed at least 27 people. There are currently 57 residents missing.

NDRF rescuers said that some victims had been buried under nearly 10 feet of mud for the last four days.

Yogesh Mhase, who helped in the operation, said: "In these circumstances, it is impossible to find anyone still alive".

According to NDRF Inspector Mahesh Sindha, no bodies were found or recovered yesterday (July 23).

144 people are now taking shelter in a temple.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Maharashtra, including the landslide-hit area of Raigad district.

The video was filmed by a local journalist who covered the story on the ground for four days.
