A three-year-old child was saved after accidentally tumbling into a borewell with a depth of 40 feet in northern India's Bihar.

The footage, which was filmed in Kul village, Nalanda district, on July 23, shows India's National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team as they rescue the little boy.

With loud cheers from onlookers, they successfully pulled the child out. Once rescued, the mud-covered boy had his face gently wiped clean with a piece of cloth.

The child, who was identified as Shivam Kumar, fell into the borewell while playing after a farmer had left it uncovered.

NDRF's officer Ranjeet Kumar said: "The officials were able to save the boy following hours of effort. He was given medical assistance and brought to the hospital. He is now doing fine. It took us about five hours to pull him out alive".
