A man was caught defecating in a gym swimming pool, even as he continued to swim in China.

CCTV footage filmed in the city of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province on July 23 shows a man pulling down his swim trunks and defecating while continuing to paddle and kick around the pool.

After relieving himself, the man quickly pulled up his trunks and continued swimming, leaving visible waste floating in the pool.

Gym staff discovered the faecal matter in the pool post-departure, which led to an immediate evacuation and analysis of the security footage, after which the police were alerted.

On July 24, a gym employee stated that only members are allowed to use the pool, leading to the immediate cancellation of the offending individual's membership.

Furthermore, the pool has undergone a complete water change and thorough cleaning.

After negotiations, the man was asked to compensate the gym a sum of 8,000 yuan (£877) for the distasteful incident.
