Chinese residents pour bottled water into reservoir for blessing ritual
Several individuals were spotted pouring bottled water into a reservoir in eastern China.
The video was filmed in Qingdao City in Shandong Province on July 23.
According to reservoir staff, these individuals had brought with them a vast amount of bottled water, and after crossing the isolation zone, began to pour it into the reservoir. When questioned, they explained their actions as a gesture to "pray for blessings".
In response to this incident, a spokesperson from the Qingdao Municipal Water Affairs Bureau stated on July 24 that the strange event occurred around 1:30 pm on the previous day. The reservoir supervisor, upon noticing, swiftly stepped in to dissuade further action.
The Water Affairs Bureau has since carried out water quality tests at 20 different points within the reservoir and found no abnormalities. They assured the public that the reservoir management team has been urged to strengthen their patrol and management efforts.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
