A group of diners were astonished as what appeared to be a great white shark pup swam up to the coast in Monterey Bay, California.

Footage filmed by Steve Coffey shows the baby shark just a few metres away from diners at the restaurant Crabby Jim's.

Coffey told Newsflare: "The whole restaurant went crazy at Crabby Jim's in Monterey Bay sitting in the restaurant on the wharf as we looked outside the window.

"Video shows the baby great white swimming around in the bay right near where people were playing in the water.

"I have lived in the area for over 40 years and I know there's never been a video or mention of a baby great white shark in the Monterey Bay area."

The whole restaurant went crazy at crabby gyms in Monterey Bay sitting in the restaurant on the wharf as we looked outside the window. A video has been recorded of the baby great white swimming around in the bay right near where people are playing in the water and I have two more videos as I noticed nobody videotaping this extremely rare opportunity.

I have lived in the area for over 40 years and I know there's never been a video or mention of a baby great white shark in the Monterey bay area. I know it is a baby great white shark because you can see it in the video.
