Mumbai finds itself in the grip of an unyielding deluge as continuous rainfall for the past 2-3 days wreaked havoc on the city. Mumbaikars are grappling with traffic jams, waterlogged roads, and delayed local trains, with no respite in sight as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts heavy rainfall in the coming days.

On Friday, Mumbai was battered by torrential downpours, resulting in the inundation of low-lying areas and severe disruption to vehicular traffic in the city and its suburbs. Andheri, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Chembur, and several other places experienced waterlogging due to the heavy spell of rain.

The city witnessed an intense and prolonged rainfall event on that fateful Friday, with the maximum city recording over 100 mm of rain within nine hours. Astonishingly, Mumbai surpassed the 1,000 mm mark of July rainfall within three weeks. This extraordinary rainfall caused extensive waterlogging across the island city and the suburban belt, leaving roads impassable for pedestrians and motorists.

As the rain shows no signs of abating and the situation remains precarious, Mumbaikars brace themselves for more challenges ahead, navigating through the waterlogged streets and enduring the disruptions caused by the relentless monsoon fury.
