Coast guards rescued families stranded in Typhoon Doksuri floods in the Philippines.

The rescue team joined local police and firefighters as they rode inflatable boats across the deluge to evacuate residents in Bacungan town in Puerto Princesa, Palawan province on July 25.

Dramatic footage shows rescuers in life vests helping the locals onto the rubber rafts amid heavy rainfall.

The distressed residents, including children, had been living next to a nearby river when the storm hit and caused it to swell. They were taken to an evacuation centre, where other families were taking shelter from the typhoon.

Philippine weather agency PAGASA said Typhoon Doksuri, known in the country as 'Egay', had been bringing scattered rainstorms while enhancing the southwest monsoon but it intensified overnight into a super typhoon.

The state weather bureau said in an 8 am update today: 'A short window of high favorable environment in the near term will allow Egay to either maintain its intensity in the next 12 hours or slightly intensify.'

Forecasters said the super typhoon could touch down in the Cagayan province area on the northern island of Luzon between Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon.
