A hungry 13ft python slithered into a shocked pensioner's house and ate her pet cat.

The ravenous serpent emerged in the property owned by Wilaiwan, 86, in Chonburi province, and killed the pet feline named Chao Dum on July 22.

When Wilaiwan went to see her cat, she was horrified to find the python already swallowing the helpless moggie.

The frantic pensioner was too scared to interview and called the local rescue team in hopes they could still save Chao Dum.

Footage shows the animal handlers using a pole to pin down the snake, which still had the cat's leash sticking out of its mouth.

The python was caught in 30 minutes and regurgitated a lifeless Chao Dum. Officers hauled the predator into a sack and later released it into its natural habitat.

Heartbroken Wilaiwan said: 'I've been taking care of Chao Dum for five years. I left her outside because I was doing chores inside the house, but I was shocked when I went outside and saw the snake eating her.

'There were only old people inside the house. We couldn't handle the python on our own so we ran inside and called for help, but it was too late for my cat.'
