China and the UK are teaming up to foster green, low-carbon and remanufacturing industries to address challenges of their carbon reduction goals.

A conference on this issue was held on Monday in Cangzhou City, north China's Hebei Province, where more than 200 attendees from both countries shared their perspectives and plans.

Remanufacturing is a process that repairs or upgrades waste products to make them as good as new.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): IAN BRIGGS, Staff member of Aspire Engineering
"I have come over to China to see how you're doing remanufacturing to learn and maybe provide my own expertise. So I'd be really, really keen to have some collaborative partnership with Chinese companies. It's a passion of mine to make sure that we provide sustainability and protect resources and provide skilled jobs. So I'm really quite excited to try and find the opportunity to work with the Chinese company."

To boost the remanufacturing industry, Cangzhou City adopts an international vision. So far, it has welcomed projects such as Volvo engine remanufacturing and Poland TT turbocharger remanufacturing, with several enterprises qualified to conduct related business.

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): MAXIME FURKEL, Committee member, European Remanufacturing Council
"We think it's very important to have a collaboration between the Europe and China and to exchange also best practices, so that we can learn from each other. In Europe, we want to increase remanufacturing from 30 billion to 100 billion euros for the whole industry by 2030 and so that's why we need to join forces and also exchange best practices for the industry."
