Five workers died and two more were injured in a horror bridge collapse in the Philippines on Tuesday.

Builders from the Bojus Sun and Supply Corporation were installing a panel on the side of the bridge when it collapsed, sending them 60ft into a river below in Davao City, Davao del Sur province, on July 25.

Footage shows the deck of the bridge leaning against the rocky slope of a gorge, with a crane truck in the middle of the wreckage.

Local authorities conducted rescue operations and uncovered the bodies of five men from the rubble. Two workers survived the fall and were rushed to the Kibalang Hospital.

A spokesman from Davao City Police Office said there were no other missing workers. Authorities said they are now investigating the cause of the collapse.

The Philippines is a third-world archipelago of 7,641 islands, each of which has creeks and rivers, making bridges an essential piece of infrastructure for locals to travel. However, many of the bridges of badly built and require regular maintenance, which is often overlooked.
