Chairman of Egypt's Suez Canal Authority, Osama Rabie, said on Wednesday that since its nationalization on July 26, 1956, the canal has facilitated the transit of approximately 1.071 million ships, with a total net tonnage of 31.599 billion tons.
Over the course of more than 67 years, the strategic waterway was able to achieve huge revenues that exceeded 143.864 billion dollars, remaining one of the most important foreign exchange resources for the public treasury of Egypt.
