An Israeli tourist has been arrested by police for walking around naked while he was covered in blood at a fuel station in Phuket, Thailand.

Uri Goldberg, 20, reportedly went on a rampage in his room at the Tyler Cherngtalay apartment block before storming out of the building unclothed on July 26.

He caused panic among worried locals who saw him wandering near a Caltex station nude with his torso stained in blood.

Cherngtalay District police officers received a report at 10:30 pm and detained the tourist, who was said to be hallucinating. They draped a towel over his privates and ushered him into an ambulance to have his wounds treated.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Sutham Rattanasawangwong of the Cherngtalay Police Station said: 'The tourist was staying in Phuket to attend a Muay Thai course at a boxing camp located in Bang Tao Beach.

'We conducted a search of the apartment and discovered traces of blood leading from the stairs to the fourth floor and into his room. We believe he had punched through a window in the apartment as there were broken glass shards and blood spatters on the floor in his room.'

Officers returned to him his phone and wallet, and also found white boxing gloves and depression medicine from a private hospital in the rental room.

The tourist Uri initially refused to go to a hospital, but later agreed after coaxing from the police. He was given stitches for a large cut on his hand.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Sutham said: 'We have documented the incident and made a record of it as evidence for any necessary legal proceedings.

'We are checking CCTV from the area and will do tests to see if he was intoxicated.'
