This is the moment a stallholder ran down the street to chase an umbrella blown away by a storm as Typhoon Doksuri causes torrential weather in Thailand.

The vendor was selling food along the Chiang Mai-Lamphun Road in northern Chiang Mai province when a gust swept the umbrella across the road on July 26.

Footage shows the seller in a yellow apron chasing after the object which nearly hit a passing motorcycle rider. She was later seen walking back to the stall with a man holding the closed umbrella.

Onlooker Kiattiphum Huansong said: 'Fortunately, no one was hurt. This area has trees lining both sides of the road, so when there is a storm, there is always danger from branches falling.'

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has warned residents in 46 provinces to prepare for Typhoon Doksuri as it approaches Thailand.

Though the storm will spare the country a direct hit, it was expected to intensify the prevailing monsoon, spawning heavy rains and potential floods until August 1.

Doksuri battered the Philippines with gale-force winds and heavy rain, killing at least six, the Philippine national disaster agency said.

Forecasters said Doksuri is on its way out of the Philippine monitoring zone and is expected to track northwest towards Taiwan and China, with landfall possible in eastern Guangdong or the Fujian on the Chinese mainland.
