Police reclaim car swept away by river during Typhoon Doksuri
Police reclaimed a car swept away by a river during Typhoon Doksuri in the Philippines.
Bontoc Police Officers towed the vehicle with a rope on July 26 as the Chico River in Mountain Province continued to surge following the storm's onslaught.
More than 60 families living on the riverbanks had been evacuated when the river overflowed and submerged parked cars. The local disaster office said relief goods have been distributed to the affected individuals.
The typhoon, known as Egay in the Philippines, battered the country with gale-force winds and heavy rain, killing at least one person, the country's national disaster agency said.
It touched down in Aparri Town, Cagayan province in the northern part of the country some 360 miles from the capital Manila at 3:10 am on July 26, state weather agency PAGASA said.
Forecasters said Doksuri is on its way out of the Philippine monitoring zone and is expected to track northwest towards Taiwan and China, with landfall possible in eastern Guangdong or the Fujian on the Chinese mainland.
