Powerful Typhoon Doksuri made landfall in the coastal city of Jinjiang in Fujian province, southern China, recording an impressive 15-level wind force (112m/h) - a category consistent with strong typhoon levels.

Following its catastrophic landfall, Doksuri is expected to continue its path towards the northwest direction, gradually decreasing in strength.

Massive waves pummelled the Quanzhou seafront as a result of Doksuri, flipping roofs off buildings, blowing down huge advertising billboards, and causing extensive damage to the thermal insulation of Quanzhou Strait Sports Stadium. Power facilities in the area also suffered considerable damage.

Sources suggest that Doksuri is the strongest typhoon to hit China this year, and the second-strongest typhoon ever recorded in Fujian since comprehensive records began. Its intensity is only surpassed by Typhoon Meranti, which hit the province in 2016.

The Central Meteorological Observatory predicts that after making landfall, Typhoon Doksuri will move further inland and continue north. From July 29 to 31, northern Jianghuai, Huanghuai, Huabei, and even the southern part of Dongbei will successively be affected.

Areas such as Henan Province, western Shandong Province, Hebei Province, Beijing City, Tianjin City, eastern Shanxi Province, and southern Liaoning may face heavy rainfall, with some localities potentially experiencing torrential downpours.
