A cake shop owner in Linyi, Shandong, has taken creativity to new heights by introducing delectable cicada bread.

Mr Jing, the store manager, reveals that this unique creation was inspired by the seasonal presence of cicada monkeys, which locals have cherished since childhood.

Fondly reminiscing about his own experiences of catching cicadas with his children, Jing decided to blend this cherished memory with the shop's existing products.

To concoct this extraordinary bread, Jing delicately fries the cicadas until they turn delightfully crispy, and then incorporates them as a filling for the bread.

Each bread is adorned with approximately 10 of these flavourful creatures and is offered at the affordable price of 29.9 yuan (£3.26). To his surprise, numerous customers have embraced this novelty with open arms.

Speaking on the venture, Jing confesses that monetary gains are not the primary motivation behind this venture. Instead, he emphasises the sheer joy and pleasure derived from bringing a playful twist to his bakery offerings.
