A brave pensioner captured a super close up of a six-metre-long crocodile’s powerful jaws and teeth.

Diver Rene Vagnotti was on a tour of the River Tarcoles in Costa Rica when he came across an American crocodile in the water around him.

Amazing footage shows the massive reptile showing off its fearsome mouth as chicken is held out for it to snack on by the 71-year-old.

Despite being just two metres away from the crocodile Rene managed to captured the inside of the animal’s mush as it snapped down quickly.

Rene said: “I had a mixture of fear and excitement but I was very happy to be so close. I had swum with a smaller crocodile before but this one was much bigger and intimidating.

“This crocodile was about six metres long and I managed to get two metres away from its mouth.

“Thanks to my GoPro attachment, I was able to get within 50cm of the crocodile’s teeth getting a real super close up of its sharp weapons.”
