A mother found herself trapped in a baby swing and had to be cut free by firefighters in an embarrassing rescue mission in Essex.

Leala Vanbest, 22, relived her childhood memories by slipping into the child's swing while spending quality time with her daughter and friends on July 27. Little did she know that her 10-minute swinging adventure would end in an hour-long ordeal.

Initially, Leala found the situation amusing and burst into laughter as she realized she was stuck. She wriggled and writhed in a futile attempt to escape, while her friends and even strangers joined in a united yet unsuccessful heave to release her from the swing's grip.

With the young mum well and truly wedged, it was time to call in the professionals. The fire brigade arrived with sirens wailing and lights flashing, at approximately 7:45 pm, turning the scene into a spectacle for all to see.

Video captured the moment as three firemen diligently worked to dismantle the swing after their initial efforts to pull her out failed. Leala, employed in customer services, couldn't contain her amusement throughout the episode, describing the situation as "very, very funny."

She said: "Everyone was looking and laughing, and when the fire engine arrived, people started opening their doors to look too - I just couldn't stop laughing." Even the firemen joined in the fun, cracking jokes as they worked.

Reflecting on her unorthodox decision to climb into the swing, Leala admitted: "I don't know why I even got in the swing, I just walked over to it, and I wasn't really thinking."

Despite the humour, the experience wasn't entirely painless. "It really hurt when everyone was trying to pull me out, and I have some bad bruises on my hips now," she confessed.

The fire crew meticulously detached the swing from its chains, removed the base, and manipulated the bars to enable Leala's hips to squeeze through the diagonal gap.

Finally freed, Leala was able to look back on the incident with a smile, though she did note the impact on the local children: "It was good to be free again, but there were loads of kids with only one swing left."
