A man in northern China was stranded in his car and carried off by rising river floods leading to a rescue by local firefighters.

At about 15:00 on the afternoon of July 30, affected by continuous heavy rain, floods occurred in Wu'an City, Handan, Hebei Province.

A man was driving his car through a partially submerged bridge and was washed nearly 100 meters downstream into the Minghe River by the torrential flood.

His vehicle was caught in the middle of the river more than 50 meters from the shore.

After receiving the alarm, the Handan Fire Rescue Detachment immediately dispatched firemen to the scene. After initial attempts to reach the car failed, cranes were brought in to lift the man out from his car.

Even with the limit of the working length, they were still more than 10 meters away from the trapped man. The fire rescue personnel tried to approach twice and threw the life jacket and rope but failed.

Finally, after 1 hour and 20 minutes, the trapped man was rescued ashore. The man was fortunately unhurt.
