Villagers battled through flooded roads as torrential rain hit Cambodia over the weekend.

Footage shows the deluge covering roads in the Kampong Trach district of Kampot province on Sunday July 30.

Residents were seen carrying their farm animals to safety, guiding the livestock across knee-deep floods.

At a campsite in the same province, brown floods covered cottages, leaving only the roofs visible.

Cambodia's Ministry of Water Resources said the rain was caused by a prolonged low-pressure system prevailing over parts of Thailand, Laos, and Central Vietnam, as well as the southwest monsoon.

Cambodia and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
