Protesters burned mock corpses outside the officers of former Man City owner Thaksin Shinawatra today amid anger over the election 'stitch up' in Thailand.

Footage shows the gorey cremation with bodies drenched in blood and set alight on the forecourt of the Pheu Thai party's headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand.

Thaksin's party Pheu Thai had initially tried to form a coalition with Pita Limjaroenrat who won a national poll on May 14 but the Siamese monarchy and army blocked the Harvard graduate from becoming Prime Minister over his progressive agenda which they deemed a threat to national security. He's also facing up to 10 years in prison on what critics claim are politically motivated charges over election rules.

However, Taksin's party today, August 2, kicked out Pita from the coalition and installed their own candidate property tycoon Srettha Thavisin to be PM with support from the establishment, in what has been branded a 'silent coup' and a 'sham election'.

Move Forward party supporters wearing the orange colours of the organisation congregated at the Asoke Intersection and outside the Pheu Thai party headquarters where they vented their anger at the chaos.

Billionaire businessman Taksin - who has been in self-imposed exile in Dubai over corruption charges from when he was Prime Minsiter from 2001 to 2006 - has vowed to return to the country on August 10, despite facing years behind bars.
