The Royal Aero Club's first clubhouse and site of the UK's first recorded powered flight has been put up for sale in Kent, UK.

Historic Muswell Manor (previously called Mussel Manor) was the clubhouse of the Aero Club's first flying grounds in Leysdown on the Isle of Sheppey.

An advert in this month's Flypast Magazine advertises the Grade II property for sale at £850,000 for the clubhouse (currently bar, restaurant & B&B) or £1.8 million including the small holiday park that surrounds it.

In May 1909, JTC Moore-Brabazon, made a flight of 500 yards in his Voisin at this location, which is officially recognised as the first flight by a British pilot in Britain.

Visitors to the Aero Club included the Wright Brothers, Short Brothers, CS Rolls and many other notable early aviation pioneers, which has lead to the Isle of Sheppey being referred to as the 'Cradle of British Aviation'.

Footage filmed this morning (August 3) shows a statue of the Short Brothers opposite the entrance, the manor house and surrounding area.
