Rescuers dismantled a car console to save a kitten trapped deep inside the engine.

The emergency services were called by car owner Wanalee Jitmongkol, 33, when she heard the moggie crying from inside the vehicle at a scrap yard in Chonburi, Thailand, on July 25.

The team arrived at the building and inspected the Toyota Soluna car. However, they had to remove the car's console to pull out the baby feline which was squeezed inside.

After two hours, the frightened two-month-old black kitten, named Dam, was safely rescued.

Wanalee said that the kitten had been recently adopted by her when she found it on the roadside. However, it had run around the vehicle and climbed through a gap before becoming trapped.

She said: 'I will watch over the kitten very carefully from now on.'
